More than 200 vendors have joined the Flag Day Flea Market and Farm Fair at the OMV Field in Tafuna.

Retail businesses, home based entrepreneurs, and food vendors are selling their products. Farmers have also turned out in large numbers with taro, bananas, coconuts, vegetables and a large variety of plants…ornamentals and ferns.

Food vendors are selling fast food, BBQ, local favorites like faausi and pisua; and everything from Mexican to Fijian and Asian dishes.

At an opening ceremony at OMV, Catechist Tualesolo Talo of the Catholic Church in Malaeloa said the event was an opportunity for the territory to see the fruits of the labor of our farmers. He said God has blessed American Samoa with fertile lands and it was our duty to take care of the environment.

Lt. Governor Laapui Talauega Eleasalo Ale said the Flea Market and Farm Fair are the opening events of the 2024 Flag Day celebration. On behalf of Governor Lemanu, he invited the public to come out and enjoy what the vendors are offering. He said in the spirit of Flag Day, the vendors can consider offering discounts for what’s on sale.

He commended the various departments which have a role in the Flea Market and Farm Fair—which will continue to Saturday.
