Weather conditions were unfavorable, therefore the start of the Flag Day I’a Lapo’a Fishing Tournament, which was scheduled for this morning (Monday), has been pushed back to Tuesday, April 16.

Tuesday is for the ladies and junior fishermen and women then on Wednesday to Saturday is the open tournament.

There are three teams from New Zealand already here for the tournament, however, their fishing boats have yet to arrive on a container vessel which got held up in Fiji. The kiwi teams are chartering local boats for the competition. There’s one fishing boat from Samoa joining about a dozen local fishing boats.

An awards ceremony will be held on Saturday at DDW.
