More information has been requested by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the Fagaima drainage improvement project following site visits by a team from FEMA, last month.

Director of the Office of Disaster Assistance and Petroleum Management Lisa Tuatoo, said the Department of Public Works has submitted the requested information to help determine the Benefit Cost Analysis for the project.

The FEMA Pacific Area Office in Honolulu is now reviewing the information and will advise if this is sufficient to proceed, or if more information is needed.

Tuatoo said her office has been in contact with FEMA and she’s hopeful that a green light to start the drainage improvement job will be issued soon.

During the site visit by the FEMA Mitigation team last month, Governor Lemanu led them through bush area in the Kokoland/Malaeimi area to illustrate the source of the floods every time it rains.
