Fautasi crews will have their final moetasi, or sleepover, tonight before they battle it out in the seas tomorrow for the 2024 Flag Day Fautasi Race.

Rough seas forced the postponement of the race from last Tuesday.

The Governor’s Office issued an announcement Friday stating the race is set for 9am, Tuesday, April 23. All fautasi are to be at the rally point at Utulei by 8:30am and from there they will row together to the starting line.

Each fautasi has been assigned a jet ski which will lead them to the starting line. All fautasi are to be behind the jet skis and once all fautasi are lined up in their lanes, the jet skis will move away indicating that the race is about to start.

The horns from the Manu’atele, tugboat, Department of Search and Rescue and DMWR vessels simultaneously will signal the start of the race.

As agreed and signed by all fautasi captains, any violation of the rules will result in disqualification.
