American Samoa Government representatives met with executives of Hawaiian Airlines this week for early discussions of next year’s 125th Flag Day Celebration.

As American Samoa celebrates 125 years as part of the American family, ASG is looking to make the celebration as momentous as the anniversary, says a press release from the Governor’s Office.

Chief of Staff Loa Tuimavave Tauapa’i Laupola, 125th Flag Day Celebration Commission Executive Director Robert Shaffer, and Deputy Chief Legal Counsel Terry VanEaton met with Hawaiian Airlines Chief Operating Officer Jon Snook, Chief Revenue Officer Brent Overbeek, and Senior Vice President of Marketing Avi Mannis to discuss how the airline can help make the celebration a success.

Ideas were exchanged and plans were made by those in attendance on how to best work together to support the upcoming celebration.

“From augmented flight schedules to promoting travel to American Samoa to being a part of the Flag Day activities, the ideas under development will all support our celebration efforts,” said Executive Director Shaffer.

“Hawaiian Airlines was a key partner during the 100th Flag Day celebration 25 years ago. It is great to still have them as a supporter and once again involved in making this historic event a success.”
