The Samoa Cabinet has approved $300,000 tālā to upgrade Sinalei Resort where King Charles III will stay during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in October.

The total of $304,000 tālā will be sourced from the $20 million tālā allocation in the National Budget for the high-level meet.

The Cabinet also confirmed the King’s visit to Samoa and his attendance at the opening of the CHOGM.

Meanwhile the tour schedule for King Charles III and Queen Camilla has been shortened skipping New Zealand and his visit to Australia also cut short by six days.

According to the British newspaper Mirror, the King changed his plans for the Oceania tour due to doctors’ fear he was doing too much following his cancer diagnosis.

The changes do not affect the Samoa leg of the royal visit where he is scheduled to officially open CHOGM.
