McDonald’s American Samoa announced Thursday that it will be closing for three weeks starting 3 am this Sunday, June 30.

The closure is necessary to complete construction work at the fast food restaurant.

A spokesperson said they need to power down and renovate the kitchen area which includes removing a walk in chiller and install new kitchen equipment.

During the closure employees will be undergoing training and all will be paid.

In an interview with company Vice President Delores Tautolo in October of last year she said that the Tafuna restaurant is being remodeled and expanded and the cost of the project was $5 million. The contractor is PJ Corporation.

McDonald’s is to reopen on July 24.

Meanwhile Carl’s Jr has announced that it is extending its business hours, opening at 6 am until midnight.
