Campus of Hope on Queen Camilla’s itinerary

Samoa’s shelter for young survivors of domestic violence, Campus of Hope, will receive a visit from Britain’s Queen Camilla.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are due to arrive in Apia on October 25. The monarch’s schedule includes a mangrove walk, tree planting and a visit to the Campus of Hope.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will stay at the Sinalei Reef Resort and have asked to meet villagers of nearby Siumu village.

King Charles will spend time with young people and community and faith leaders and his program will reflect the theme of sustainability and biodiversity, in support of one of the key themes of CHOGM – A Resilient Environment.

King Charles will also plant a tree in Samoa’s Botanical Garden at Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, Vailima marking the opening of a new area within the site, which will be called ‘The King’s Garden’.

Queen Camilla’s engagements will focus on the wider theme of her work and she is scheduled to visit a traditional Samoan pastor’s school (aoga faifeau) to see firsthand how students are taught to read and write.

As the Head of the Commonwealth, the King and Queen will attend the CHOGM opening ceremony and host a dinner for Commonwealth Heads of Government.

The King will also host a reception for new heads of Government and attend the CHOGM Business Forum to hear about progress on sustainable urbanization and investment in solutions to tackle climate change.

The King and Queen will receive a formal welcome to the country, in the form of a royal ava ceremony.
