With the general election just one month away, the Election Office reports that there has been a steady stream of people coming in to register or renew their voter IDs.

Many of the new registered voters are young people, says Deputy Election Commissioner Fiti Tavai.

The number of registered voters, as of now, is 15,286.

As of Monday, 78 local absentee ballots had been cast. These are for voters who are traveling off island and wont be here on Election Day, November 5.

The Election Office has sent out 42 ballots for outside absentee voters. Outside absentee voters include those serving in the military, work for the federal government or ASG off island, and or students studying off island.
