The Department of Education is taking steps to address discrepancies which have continually come up in the departments payroll.

A meeting to discuss this was led by deputy Director Philo Jennings last Wednesday, attended by more than 40 DOE personnel.

According to the monthly newsletter of DOE Director Vaitinasa Dr. Salu Hunkin-Finau a common problem which  surfaces regularly is missing supervisory signatures on sick/annual leave, time cards, and employee time sheets.

Others are missing employee signatures, miscalculation of work hours, sick leave not taken when they should have, and

Jennings  reminded the meeting that time keepers for schools/division and principals are required to review all time cards before submitting them to  the DOE Personnel Office for Payroll processing.

DOE Personnel are told to process submitted payrolls from the worksites by schools and  divisions, and submit them to ASG Treasury-Payroll Section for processing of paychecks.

DOE says procedures and guidelines are in place to ensure accuracy, accountability and deliver paychecks to employees on time.
