If you didn’t fill up your gas tank already, you’ll be paying a bit more for unleaded gas and other fuel products.

According to the latest wholesale price chart for fuel released by the Office of Petroleum Management, prices for all petroleum products sold on island are going up by 16 cents or more per gallon effective last Friday,

Unleaded gasoline has the biggest increase of 21 cents per gallon.

Motorists have been paying $2.50 or a few cents more for a gallon of unleaded gas.

However the new MAP will push the average retail price for unleaded to $2.71 per gallon.

Regular diesel, as well as road and marine-related diesel jumps by 19 cents per gallon while jet fuel, kerosene and ultra-low diesel goes up 17 cents per gallon.

This is the first hike for unleaded and other fuel prices for 2016.

OPM official Sione Kava said the prices weren’t going to drop forever though the latest hike appears to be a “temporary spike.”

He attributed the hike in gas prices to the higher driving season demand in the US which has been encouraged by the cheap gas prices.
