Ituau District Has Highest Attack Rate of Zika

The highest attack rate of Zika according to the latest stats from the Department of Health is Ituau District.

Tuala-uta, with the biggest population, still has the most number of suspected Zika cases.

In its weekly report of the spread of the Zika virus, DOH has recorded 569 suspected cases.

Doctors at the LBJ Emergency Room began noticing symptoms of Zika among patients in January  but the Deprtment of Health only began testing for the disease in February.

Suspected cases of Zika are patients seen at the LBJ Emergency Room and community health centers with symptoms of the disease such as a fever, sore joints, rash and reddish eyes.

Of the 569 suspected cases, the number of confirmed cases remains at 14, and 6 of those are pregnant women.

The most affected age group is 10 and under and those who have come down with Zika range from a 1 year old to an 83 year old.

The DOH report does not say how many blood samples are sent off island for testing but the confirmed cases has remained at 14 for more than a month now.
