Old Guardrails Replaced From Avau to Pago Pago

The coastline from Avau to Pago Pago will soon sport new guardrails.

McConnell Dowell is replacing the old rusted and in some parts twisted guardrails and also refurbishing some of the existing railings .

The project started early this month and is targeted for completion in June.

Project Manager for McConnell Stuart Pilat says over 3,500 linear feet o new guardrail is being put in stretching  from the first store in Nuuuli all the way to Pago Pago.  This is a locally funded project.

Next month McConnell will start on road markings for all highways throughout the island.

Over 50,000 linear feet of road will be marked.

This include central lines, road crossings, and installation of safety signs.

The road marking will start at the end of May when materials for the job arrive.  That project is timed for six months.
