A mother and her children displayed placards with messages saying Free West Papua.
The signs were directed at the Indonesian Ambassador Budi Bowoleksono to the United States who was here at the government’s invitation.
Indonesia provided $300,000 toward construction of the Pago Pago Youth Center also know as the Department of Youth and Women Affairs Hall.
Valerie Adams and her 7-year old daughter were at the entrance to the stadium when Ambassador Budi arrived for the Flag Day festivities.
Adams is questioning Indonesia’s motive in providing financial assistance to American Samoa.
She prays more people will learn about the status of West Papua which has voted for independence but is being occupied by Indonesia.
