Fencing, one of the orginal sports of the Olympics is being introduced to the diversity of sports under the American Samoa National Olympic Committee.
After an exchange of correspondence between the President of the Oceania Fencing Confederation (OFC) and American Samoa National Olympic Corporation official, Irene Kane several months ago, Leon Thomas, Regional Development Officer with the International Fencing Federation (FIE) arrived yesterday to start promoting the sport in the territory.
Thomas was in Samoa where fencing was introduced a year ago and was asked to make a detour trip to introduce the sport for interested locals.

Today, the OFC representative is going to targeted schools where he will demonstrate fencing and talk about the sport.
Thomas encourages the community to come out to the Pago Pago Youth Center aka Department of Youth and Women Affairs Hall in Pago Pago from 3:00-4:00 pm to learn more about fencing and give it a try.
