Making his first visit to American Samoa is the new Coast Guard Captain of the Port, Capt Michael Long.
He was appointed to the helm of the Coast Guard Honolulu sector three months ago and since arriving Monday he’s met many people both from the government and private sector.
The new commander has been with the Coast Guard for 24 years , he has Puerto Rican blood, grew up in the panhandle of Miami and has worked in various sections of the Coast Guard.
KHJ news asked him what he wants to convey as the new Captain of the Port to the local community.
