Entertainer Al Harrington is to receive the inaugural lifetime achievement award from the Pan Pacific Southeastasia Women Association Hawaii Friday, Decemebr 30.
The award will be presented at the first annual Pacific Awards Banquet at the Pagoda Hotel International Banquet Room.
According to PPSEAWA- Hawaii President, Mary Tori Keegan, the selection of Al Harrington by the Board from a distinguished list of iconic Pacific islanders was not easy, but Mr. Harrington’s diverse “contribution in so many areas such as in Sports, Education, Film, Movies, Tourism, Entertainment, Indigenous issues, and philanthropic work in the past 50 years was extraordinary.”
Al Harrington, known as the “South Pacific Man” was a marquee headliner in Waikiki and a member of the Hawaii 5-0 original cast.
The quintessential Pacific citizen, “his humility and his genuine love for Hawaii and the Pacific, his self effacing attitude to his numerous charity work in the Pacific, are just some of the qualities that set Mr. Harrington apart from the rest and endear him to many around the world.”
The awards banquet will not only honor Harrington but also celebrate PPSEAWA charitable work since 1928, in South East Asia, Hawaii, Samoa, Tonga, and other Pacific nations.
Musicians who will perform that night include Danny Kaleikini, Melven Leed, Ledward Kapana, Marlene Sai, Malaesaili Saga, Manuma Brothers, Dennis Ah Yek, and Rod Tanu.
