Samoa has received expressions of interest from several companies wanting to set up at the Yazakai Samoa plant in Vaitele.
The company announced late last year that it would be closing down in early 2017.
Prime Minsiter Tuilaepa Sailele told reporters that two interested companies which the government is seriously looking at are a mattress manufatcturer which exports all over the world and a Samoan owned company with plans to set up a call center,
Tuilaepa said he envisions housing several call center companies in the Yazaki Samoa plant as most of these tyoes of operations are manned by a dozen or so workers.
The Yazaki Samoa plant is in the industrial zone at Vaitele and the building was constructed by the government as an incentive for the Japanese owned company to set up in Samoa.
The plant made wire harnesses for vehciles which were exported to Australia.
