Leone High school was the overall winner of the 31st Annual Speech Festival held today at the Tafuna Warriors Campus,.
Leone had 68 points, 2nd place was Tafuna high school with 63 points and Fagaitua High School placed third with 60 points.
The points are awarded according to the placing of each school in the various festival categories.
Leone won the Oral interpretation poetry, original script writing and the most anticipated event, Contemporary Choral Recitation.
Tafuna topped dual acting, while Fagaitua High School won Monologue, and Samoana topped Impromptu speech.

Impromptu Speech
- 1st Karlinna Sanchez-Samoana
- 2nd John Iosefo-Tafuna
- 3rd Madelyn Fuimaono-Fagaitua
This was the third year that Karlinna has won Impromptu Speech and as is part of the Speech Festival tradition for a 3-peat winner in the same category she is awarded the John Kneubuhl award.
The award has not been won in over 10 years.

All public high schools including Manu’a High School competed in this year’s fest along with private schools Faasao Marist, South Pacific Academy, Iakina and Pacific Horizons.
