Nu’uuli’s Manulele Tausala has won the 2017 Flag Day fautasi championship.
The race was supposed to start at 8am however it began nearly an hour early and was moved from 5 miles to about 3 miles because according to the Fautasi Race Committee the seas were too rough.
Manulele Tausala, the defending champions from last year’s Flag Day Fautasi Race was ahead of the other 6 fautasi for most of the race course.
Try as they might the long boats closest to Manulele: Iseula, Fuao and Paepaeulupoo couldn’t come within reach.

- Manulele Tausala-Nu’uuli
- Iseula o le Moana – Fagatogo
- Fuao – Vatia
- Paepaeulupo’o-Aua
- Matasaua – Manu’a
- Taema – Leone
- Fetu o le Afiafi-Fagaalu.
9:15 am The Fautasi Race Committee has relegated Iseula ole Moana from 2nd to 7th place, because according to the committee, Fagatogo did not follow the race rules.
