It has been five days of nostalgia for Mrs Mary Ellen Nolann Dunne, a volunteer from a group called the Los Angeles Lay Mission Helpers who taught at Faasao High School more than 30 years ago.

The three years that she taught at what used to be an all girls Catholic school left such an impression on her, that after she retired she decided to visit the school and the girls she taught.

Arriving Monday with a son as a traveling companion, Ms Nolann Dunne has been meeting many of her former students such as Olivia Reid Gillete, Andra Samoa, Epifania Suafoa, Lomi Thomsen, Sherry Sele and many others.

She’s visited what used to be Faasao High School, now a coed called Faasao Marist at Lepuapua and went to the home where she lived at the back of the Leone Catholic Church.

She shared why she decided to come back to American Samoa.
