School administrators & teachers head to Palau

More than a dozen delegates from American Samoa are attending the 2017 PEC-Pacific Education Conference in Koror, the capital of Palau, July 17-21,

PEC is the largest education conference in the Western Pacific.

DOE Director Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga said DOE is sending nine teachers- high school and elementary level, including a former Territorial Teacher of the Year, and five school principals, including the 2017 Principal of the Year Laloleva Polu.

The director says this is one of the largest contingents from ASDOE to attend the PEC in a while.

Dr. Matagi-Tofiga, explained that the PEC is a major source of professional development for our teachers and school administrators.

The group from American Samoa  will give a presentation on the topic: “Building the Road to Comprehension, One word at a time.”

Deputy Director of DOE Faaui Vaitautolu is leading the local delegation.
