The Tafuna Warriors JV football team took part in a historical match in Samoa over the weekend.
The first organized football match in the country.
The Tafuna High School Warriors fielded 35 JV players while the hosts, St. Joseph’s College entered the match with 40 players .
The game took place last Saturday at the St. Joseph’s malae at Lotopa.
Tafuna Head Coach Taveuveu Kolose Ili was impressed with the performance of the host team.

The invitation to the football camp in Samoa was originally offered to Fagaitua’s football team, but due to other engagements the Vikings couldnt make it.
Enter Tafuna Warriors.
Coach Ili praised the ability of the St Joseph’s team, consisting mainly of players who were passed over in rugby competition.
He said the introduction of American football in Samoa provides a great alternative for athletes in Samoa.

Coach Ili and his staff hopes that when the ASHAA league begins, St.Joseph’s football team would be invited to play against the champions of local high school football.
He thanked St. Joseph’s College and also Tafuna High School for assisting with accommodations of the Warriors’ team in Samoa.
SJC won the game.
