Doctors at the Tafuna Family Health Center havent been seeing patients due to a breakdown of the electronic medical records system.

Patients told KHJ news they were referred to the hospital or other community health centers and the reaspn is because the electronic medical records system was down.

The head physician at THC, Dr. Fuimaono could not be reached yesterday.

But a Department of Health official said that the reason for the breakdown is related to phone and internet service provided by the American Samoa Telecommunications Authority.

The electronic medical records system allows doctors to pull up a patient’s chart, anywhere that they are seen,  at LBJ Hospital or any of the health centers in the territory.

The system also tracks medication given to patients via the pharmacies at LBJ and the Tafuna Family Health Center.
