Palauli College in Savaii has banned the sale of junk food on campus.

Principal Papalii Ene tells Talamua Online the aim is for the children to eat healthy for a healthy body and mind.

He said if students have healthy minds and healthy bodies, “our job of teaching them will be much easier.”

Palauli College, according to the principal, is the first school in Savaii to make such a move and he is hoping that neighboring colleges and primary schools in Satupa’itea can follow their lead.

The college is seeking parent volunteers to cook nutritious meals using vegetables from the school’s garden.

Palauli College has been given an award by the Ministry of Health for its efforts in promoting healthy living as part of the celebration of National Health Week.
