Passengers on the inaugural flight of Samoa Airways from Auckland to Samoa, on Tuesday were issued handwritten boarding passes.
The white boarding passes with the passenger’s name, airline’s name, flight number, gate number and the passenger’s assigned seat were written in black.
Samoa Airways Marketing Manager Dwayne Bentley said the airline has had to temporarily resort to the manual processing of boarding passes due to a connectivity/link issue between the different systems used for flight check-in and departure.
He said the airline is working on this and as a back-up, they’ve had to resort to a manual process.
Bentley told KHJ News, “This is very much a temporary measure and we do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”
The airline’s maiden flight from Faleolo to Auckland Airport Tuesday morning had a full load of passengers including Samoa Prime Minister Tuilepa Sailele, the minister for private enterprises, Lautafi Fio Purcell, members of the Samoa Airways Board, travel agents, hoteliers and the media.
