American Samoa’s team for the Mini Pacific Games begin leaving for Port Vila , Vanuatu December 1st.
The 2017 Mini games open December 4 and will close on December 15,
American Samoa will be competing in weightlifting, three on three basketball and beach volleyball.
The first group to head to Port Vila includes the President of the American Samoa national Olympic committee Ed Imo, weightlifters Tanu Jungblunt and Li’a Tufele , and weight lifting coach Monica Afalava.
They will be in Port Vila in time for the opening of the games, and Jungblunt will be our flag bearer.
Imo says they are staggering the team’s departure to avoid costs in Port Vila, and the second group will arrive in time for their competitions.
The second half of the contingent from American Samoa depart around December 5th and will include five basketball players and three beach volleyball players, Sports Commissioner Ethan Lake and Manager of the ASNOC Office Ana Pita.
After the Miss Pacific Pageant in Nadi, Fiji, Miss American Samoa Matauaina Toomalatai is traveling to Port Vila to attend the Pacific Games.
The medal presentations for the games usually involve the reigning Miss of the host and participating countries and territories.
