At today’s cabinet meeting, Secretary of Samoan Affairs Mauga Tasi Asuega spoke on behalf of the committee in charge of the ASG Disaster Assistance Drive conducted last month to thank everyone who donated to the cause.
Mauga co-chaired the fundraiser with Lt. Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga.
A total of $147,255.24 was raised.

Governor Lolo Moliga also added his appreciation to every one who contributed and said the numbers reflect the values of our people.
And it’s telling that the biggest chunk of donations came from religious denominations $35,300.
The governor said that half of the money will be given to the American Red Cross and the balance will remain with our own Red Cross.
