Joseph Iosua of the Department of Youth and Women Affairs wil represent American Samoa at the 2018 Young Pacific Leaders conference that will take place in Honolulu January 16-18.
The conference is funded by the US State Department through the US Embassy in Canberra, Australia.
The gathering will provide emerging Pacific leaders ages 25-35 with new skills and knowledge to advance the regional’s economic vibrancy and civic engagement, thereby contributing to regional security and development.
Selection was very competitive. Out of 640 applications, only 22 participants from independent Pacific states, Australia, New Zealand and the United States were picked.
American Samoa hosted the first Young Pacific Leaders Conference in 2013 and Iosua was one of the local participants, and a very popular one with his oratory skills and humor.
