Samoa’s taxi fleet with their distinctive white colors are to be reduced by 6% after March 2018.

The Land Transport Authority announced last week that close to 200 taxis will lose their operating licenses because they wont be road worthy.

Current regulations are that any taxis manufactured before 2004 will automatically lose their taxi license as they will not be safe for the transport of passengers.

Ironically, these vehicles will still be deemed safe for use on the roads as private transport.

But LTA says they will be taken off the road when they are no longer safe.
