More than 100 golfers from Samoan golfing clubs in San Francisco, San Diego, Hawaii, American Samoa and Samoa tee off this morning in the annual All Samoan International Golf Tournament.
The tourney participants were welcomed at a banquet at the Equator last night hosted by the American Samoa Club, which is led by Senate President Gaoteote Palaie.
Gaoteote told participants from the mainland and Hawaii that some of them have probably not visited home for a long time and the tournament is an opportunity for them to spend time with relatives and friends.
He said the event also adds to the camaraderie between golfers and he was happy to see church ministers, business people, politicians and men and women in various professions coming together to enjoy golf.
The tournament starts this morning and will end on Thursday.
