Crews digging the new sewer line at Aua found human skeletons near a guesthouse on the Aua malae, Paepaeulupoo which is literally translated as ground of skulls.
Aua House Representative Faimealelei Anthony Allen says that the discovery further attests to the reason why their malae is so named, Paepaeulupoo.

Representative Faimealelei said traditional protocol was followed in handling the human remains.

The archaelogical division of the American Samoa Power Authority was also at the site yesterday, according to the Aua faipule.
