Army Reserve to hear input about shooting range

The US Army Reserve is installing a modular Small Arms Range Facility in Tafuna.

The indoor shooting range is a 360 degree enclosed shooting bay which according to the US Army Reserve will meet federal regulations including those of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, US Environmental Protection Agency, and the  American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

The facility will support weapons silks training to promote combat readiness for all US Army Reserve soldiers in American Samoa and may be utilized by the American Samoa Government agencies under the supervision of the US Army Reserve.

The 9th Mission Support Command of the US Army Reserve will host a community engagement opportunity for residents to receive information on the facility, next week.

Mr. John Lee, Command Executive Officer and Staff from the 9th Mission Support Command, Honolulu will be here to address safety concerns and give the community the opportunity to pride input for the location of the facility.

This as the Army Reserve is in the process of making the decision of where to place the Modular Small Arms range facility.

The community engagements will be at the SFC Konelio Pele Army Reserve Cneter on Wednesday, September 12 from 2-5 pm and on Thursday, September 13 from 9 am to 12 pm.
