Tomorrow, Miss Pacific Islands Matauaina Toomalatai heads for the annual regional pageant in Tonga where she will crown the next young woman to be the ambassador of the Pacific.

Yesterday, Matauaina and Miss American Samoa Magalita Johnson were given spiritual blessings at the regular Sunday service of the Vaitogi CCCAS led by Rev. Tafa Muasau.

Members of Ms Johnson’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including President of the Pago Pago Stake Adney Reid  and Bishop Ioane Ioane, joined the service with Magalita’s parents.

Mrs Meafou Imo, President of Miss American Samoa Inc and members as well as Director of the American Samoa Visitors Bureau David Vaeafe, were present.

Mrs Imo, who is accompanying Matauaina to Tonga says they will travel with the Samoa contingent to the pageant while Miss American Samoa will be accompanied by Vaeafe, and MASI members to Nukualofa.

The crowning of the new Miss Pacific Islands takes place November 30, Tonga time, at ‘Atele Stadium.

Matauaina has participated in several regional events including the mini Pacific Games in Vanuatu, and  travel show in Australia with the South Pacific Tourism Organization.

Thank you for your service Matauaina and good luck to our Miss American Samoa Magalita Johnson.
