It is the sum of several years of collaboration between two business woman in Samoa and American Samoa: Vaimasenuu Zita Martel of Apia and Tuai Auvaa Mua of Pago Pago.

The app was launched last evening at the Multi Purpose Center of the American Samoa Community College to an audience of government, business and community representatives, and friends and family of the two women.

Vaimasenuu said she first met Tuai at a meeting of women entrepreneurs in 2014 in Fiji,  where she gave a  talk about a marketing app she had developed for Samoa.

Tuai told her she wanted an app for American Samoa.  Since then the two have joined forces on the  American Samoa Smartguide App which is basically advertising on mobile devices….its photos, text, maps, GPS directions and other promotional aides.

Vaimasenuu talked about the success of the app since it was launched in Samoa, illustrating its potential for the territory.
