Tafuna High School is the overall winner for the Senior Division of the 2019 History Day competition.
The first place winners were Lolua Leomiti, Katherine Betham and Henry Faapalemata of Tafuna High School.
Second place went to Tafuna High School students Jade Kruse and Jewel Kruse.
Third place was Samoana High School, represented by Morgan Ulu and Eciladen Ulu.
Pacific Horizon is the overall winner for the Junior Division represented by Jennifer Leigh Vaiau and Petania Sagaga.
Second place was Fitituta Elementary with Toasamoa Amituana’i, and third place was Manumalo Academy-Renee Dunson and Richard Mamea.
All 12 students will travel to the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland.
Director of Education Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga said, “We are sending the top 6 winners to compete in the National History Day.”
“These students worked hard, they presented their projects in classrooms, competed in their school competition, then the Island Wide Competition, now they have the chance to compete at the National level.
“This is will be a great learning experience for our students. We wish our students the best in the National History Day.”
