Two hotels in Samoa are going on the auction block this month.

A public notice was published in Samoa newspapers yesterday that the Orator Hotel and Moanalisa Hotel will be auctioned following foreclosure by the Development Bank of Samoa.

The Moanalisa Hotel is owned by the country’s Minister for Revenue Tialavea Tionisio Hunt and his family.

Despite the hotel being on the main stretch between the international airport and the capital Apia, Tialavea told media recently that he was selling the hotel as it was not getting enough patrons.

The Orator Hotel is tucked away in lush green surroundings on the outskirts of Apia but has also been troubled by the lack of clientele.

Despite being popular for special events and with local dining clients, owners Jerry and Salote Brunt have still struggled to stay afloat.

The auction is scheduled for May 23 at the Apia Court House.
