A top high school football player from American Samoa will be playing in the 2020 Polyensian Bowl in Hawaii in January next year.
The Polynesian Bowl, which started in 2017, is a premier All-Star football game featuring the world’s elite high school players of Polynesian heritage, San Francisco 49ER great, Seiuli Jesse Sapolu, hopes to select that local player before he leaves town Thursday night.
Seiuli was in Samoa with other Polynesian Bowl officials to organize a football camp to be held in Samoa next May and an All Star Game that will feature players from Tonga, American Samoa and Samoa.
Sapolu, a four time Superbowl champ was in Samoa with former Denver Broncos defensive end Maa Tanuvaasa and the first Tongan to play in the NFL Vai Sikahema.
Sapolu talked with KHJ News about the Polynesian Bowl and the exposure that it will give to the player that is selected for the January 18, 2020 game.
