Wayland Baptist University opens new location

Wayland Baptist University officially opened its new location this morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a tour of the new facilities.

Wayland opened last year at Manumalo Academy in Malaeimi.

Governor Lolo Moliga, directors, senators and representatives witnessed the opening.

The new office occupies the entire second floor of the Georgina Building in Fagaima, owned by Paramount Builders.

Dr. Dan Jacobson, Executive Director and Dean of the Hawaii campus represented Wayland Baptist University.

As a show of commitment to the local campus, Wayland’s Hawaii campus has started a scholarship fund exclusively for American Samoa students.

Dr. Jacobson presented the scholarship certificate to local campus Director Lumana’i Snow.

With its floor-to-ceiling windows, the new location boasts a panoramic view of the surrounding area with enclosed offices and separate restrooms at the back of the building.

The rear can be accessed by stairway and an elevator opens to the main lobby area at the front.

Wayland University opened in American Samoa with a single staff member and 9 students at the Manumalo Academy  in Malaeimi.

Today it has four administrators, adjunct faculty of four and 200 students. Professor Lumana’i Snow is the director of the local campus.
