The judges’ choice to be the new Miss American Samoa is Epifania Petelo of Tafuna.
The daughter of Mika and Kata Petelo, won over four other contestants in this year’s pageant held Friday evening at the ASCC Multi purpose center.
Epifania won the pre-pageant interview, the stage interview, Best Traditionally Inspired Wear, and Best Float.
She wrote on her FaceBook page the day after winning the title, “To have been crowned the new Miss American Samoa 2019-2020 last night, still feels all too surreal. I am truly at a loss for words. However, this new journey of mine would not have been possible without the help of my major sponsor, Iron Crew my fitness family.”
She named several other businesses and organizations who helped her, including her employer, Neil’s Ace Home Center.
Epifania, a graduate of Faasao Marist High School also said she’s forever grateful to her parents for their endless love and support.
She said, “There is no amount of words that fully encompasses how grateful I am to have been blessed with such an honor.”
“Thank you everyone for the congratulatory remarks, the prayers and above all, for believing in and trusting me. I am beyond humbled and greatly honored to serve you with love and grace, my American Samoa.”
Miss Vatia, Menora-Justine Samia, sponsored by Betty Gaoteote and friends, was the first runner up.
Second runner up was Jonica Tuiteleleapaga, sponsored by family and friends. Monica also won
Miss Photogenic and best talent.
Third runner up Brenda Foleni of Amouli, sponsored by J-Len Ts, won the MASI Award as well as Miss Personality, Miss Internet and Best Siva Samoa.
Tauaitala Leasiolagi, sponsored by Lote’s Auto Shop was the 4th runner up.
