Mr. Paul Young is new CEO of ASH Cable

Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited (ATH) has appointed Mr. Paul Michael Young as Chief Executive Officer of American Samoa Hawaii Cable, LLC (ASH) effective November 1, 2019.

Mr. Young, previously Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga’s Special Assistant for Economic Development and Finance and the Managing Director of the American Samoa Power Authority, takes over from Toleafoa Tiafau Creevey.

An actuary by training, he has been the Chief Actuary and Chief Financial Officer for numerous companies and worked throughout the Pacific and Asia for development organizations like USAID, the United Nations and Asian Development Bank as a governance, finance and budget advisor.

ATH says hus understanding of the Territory of American Samoa, coupled with his telecommunication experience uniquely suits him for this role.”

Mr. Young will be based in American Samoa to more closely oversee the cable’s operations and address the needs of its share- and stakeholders.

ASH is the international fiber optic cable between American Samoa, Samoa and Hawaii and connects Samoa to the existing global telecommunications infrastructure networks and is comprised of two cables installed between Samoa, American Samoa and Hawaii.

Additionally, the Samoa American Samoa Cable (SAS) provides inter-island communication, as well as enabling users in Samoa to access ASH capacity and connect to the global networks.

Ownership of ASH is divided between ATH and the American Samoa Government at 67% and 33%, respectively.

ATH acquired its shares in ASH when it purchased American Samoa Telecom LLC (aka BlueSky Communications) from Amper SA in 2016.

ATH’s CEO Mr. Ivan Fong sees the appointment of Mr. Young as a new beginning for ASH.
