Governor Lolo Moliga served notice to members of his cabinet that if their employees don’t contribute $10 each to the fundraiser for Samoa, he expects them to pay up.

This was one of the topics that the governor discussed at a cabinet meeting yesterday morning.

The governor said Thursday is the last day to bring in all monies for the Fesoasoani Alofa mo Samoa fundraiser and named the authorities, ASPA, ASTCA, Community College and other small departments who haven’t yet brought in their donations, to do so by Thursday,

This is when Treasurer Ueligitone Tonumaipe’a who chairs the fund drive with Secretary of Smaoan Affairs Mauga Tasi Asuega will close the books for the event.

According to the governor if all the money from these last remaining ASG entities is in, the tally would reach $300,000.

Lolo went into lecture mode saying that those who complain are people from outside and it was up to directors to sell certain values that are influenced by their upbringing as Samoans and as Christians.

He said the law is not the only consideration ….cultural and Christian values should also guide what happens in the workplace.

Lolo said as far as steering the ship of government, the law should be observed, but if there is an issue he will apply the culture and also Christian principles.

He said those who complain have a right to do so but directors should make their employees understand and accept the reasons behind this territorial efforts.
