If you’re a US passport holder or a Samoan passport holder and going on a trip to Samoa, you will not be able to return to American Samoa unless you have a health exam clearance by Samoa’s Ministry of Health 14 days before you arrive here.
That’s according to the latest travel advisory issued by Health Director Motusa Tuileama Nua yesterday, January 30.
The Heath Director confirmed to KHJ News that the requirement is to discourage local residents from traveling to Samoa during the Coronavirus outbreak.
He said even though there’s no reports from Samoa of a confirmed Coronavirus case , American Samoa cannot take any chances as it doesn’t have the resources to respond if this new disease gets to our shores.
KHJ News pointed out to the director that this requirement was not included in Governor Lolo Moliga’s order extending and expanding the public health emergency declaration issued Wednesday.
Motusa said the order does give DOH the authority to issue any policies deemed to protect the territory from public health risks.
