Police blocked off for a few hours this morning the entrance to the Laufou parking lot preventing early morning customers of restaurants as well as employees of businesses in the building and residents who live behind Laufou, from entering.
Cops were stationed at the entrance and exit of the parking lot and cones were placed from the turn in to Laufou past the Paradise Store parking lot.
Customers of Carl’s Jr. and Koko Bean could not drive into the parking lot to get coffee and breakfast from the restaurants. Employees and customers of other businesses in the building like Forsgrens, Blue Sky, Drug Store, Lalelei, Sports Domain and Photogenix were also affected.
Some who caught the bus had to get off in front of the old Savaliga Store and walk back to Laufou as their normal drop of spot was blocked off.
It was around 8:15, that the entrance was reopened but cars were still unable to exit
The reopening of the entrance was after a management official of one businesses in the Laufou Building made contact with the Commissioner of Public Safety and Governor’s Office.
The closure came as a surprise to everyone as there were no notices issued to inform the public.
Governor Lolo Moliga had given instructions at Friday’s cabinet meeting that beginning the week before schools start next month, no vehicles will be allowed to turn into Laufou between 7:00 am and 8:30 am and from 3:30-4:30 pm in order to alleviate traffic jams at peak traffic hours when employees and students are trying to get to work and school in the mornings and returning home in the afternoons.
