A Military Airlift Command (MAC) flight arriving this afternoon is bringing a new doctor for the LBJ Hospital Emergency Room and a new Coast Guard lt to head the Marine Safety Detachment Unit in American Samoa.
The doctor and his wife are missionary volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
CEO of LBJ Hospital Faumuina John Faumuina said the LDS doctor will be assigned to the Emergency Room and his wife will also be working at the hospital
Also on the MAC flight is a replacement for Coast Guard Lt Ryan Junod who left the territory a month ago.
JROTC instructors will also be among the 6 passengers.
Director of Health Motusa Tuileama Nua says the doctor and his wife will be quarantined at hospital quarters at Fagaalu while the others will be staying at the DOH alternate care facilities in Tafuna.
The MAC flight crew of six will spend the night here and will depart tomorrow. They will also stay at the alternate care facilities behind the Tafuna Community Health Center.
The return flight will be taking active duty military personnel.
Another aircraft will be arriving from Guam this afternoon to medivac a patient to Honolulu.
Motusa said there are currently no persons in quarantine at Tafuna. The last group staying there were special skilled and technical workers.
The last repatriation flight from Samoa was last Thursday.
