Three political parties have joined forces to contest the 2021 General Elections under the banner of the newly formed Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi or FAST Party.
TV1 Samoa reports the coalition was announced at a press conference on Wednesday at FAST headquarters at Vaitele.
FAST leader, Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt said the coalition will include Samoa National Development Party (SNDP) and Puleono ma Tumua Party and have agreed to contest the General Elections ‘’under the FAST party ticket’’.
The former speaker and cabinet minister said the parties will scrutinize the candidates from all three parties at each constituency and decide the most competent for the three parties to support.
“So if a candidate from one party is better qualified, the other two “will support that candidate,’’ said Laaulialemalietoa.
He added that each party is handling their own fundraising for election >expenses.
Nominations for the 2021 General Elections will open in October.
