News that Matafao Elementary School is not changing its name has been received with joy and gratitude by graduates of the school,

Two women who were at the forefront to stop the name change are members of the Matafao Class of 94, Liz Croker Toafa and Carol Alailefaleula Schuster.

Reacting to the official announcement from DOE Director Talauega Dr. Samasoni Asaeli thst the school will not be named The Nikolao Pula Elementary School, the two alums said,
“First and always, Glory to God for today and just for who he is, faithful. On behalf of the class of 94 of Matafao Elementary School here & abroad we want to thank everyone that believed in keeping our Matafao legacy going for the many generations to come.”

They thanked all those who supported the cause.

“Thank you to our Governor and LT Governor, Director of DOE, the Alumni, relatives and friends that supported us from signing the petition, to getting the word out there, and just showing their support during the protest. “From the bottom of our humble hearts, thank you all and God bless. And shout-out to 93KHJ for being our voice.”
