The governor’s nominee for Director of the Dept of Youth and Women Affairs Dr. Salote Auelua Fanene is back on island and the House and Senate have now scheduled confirmation hearings.
She left island on the first repatriation flight in February for medical treatment and recently returned to the territory.
The House will review her nomination on Friday morning while the Senate will hold a confirmation hearing next week.
In his letter to Fono leaders, the governor said that Dr. Aoelua-Fanene has returned from her emergency medical leave and “is eager to serve the people of American Samoa”. Her resume was also submitted to the Fono for review.
