An exhibition featuring American Samoa’s Constitution opened Friday at the Feleti Barstow Public Library.

Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga said in remarks at the ipu veiling that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land and he hopes the public, especially the youth, will view the display for some understanding of this important document.

Lindsey Laupola of the Office of Political Status, Constitutional Review and Federal Relations gives a snapshot of what’s featured in the exhibition.

Laupola credited Territorial Archivist James Himphill and Territorial Librarian Justin Maga and their staff for making the exhibition possible.

An executive order that the Governor issued last week designated yesterday, Oct 17, as Constitution Day.

Awareness and educational activities on the American Samoa Constitution are being planned leading up to next year’s constitutional convention.
