The wear purple on Monday for Alzheimer’s Month is generating the type of discussion that Agency for Better Living Endeavors intended.

“On Mondays we wear our purple to show support for all the memories lost, all the memories shared, all the memories made and in the making and all the memories we strive to face,” says ABLE, the organization that’s leading activities

It is all part of the campaign to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia related diseases, explains one of the ABLE founders, Christina Lutu-Sanchez.

“When people ask why wear purple, the answer is for Alzheimer’s Month. The next question is what is Alzheimer’s?”

Lutu Sanchez said the idea of getting people to ask questions about Alzheimer’s and learning about it is working.

One mother sent photos of her children in an activity for “making memories”. The mother had the kids researching about Alzheimer’s and presenting on it,

“i hope that more parents/ teachers – are able to go through this exercise. And if they want to know more – ABLE is there to provide the info and/or refer to the service providers for their questions.” She said.

TV panel discussions are also providing a lot of information. The first one was on November 2, the second one is on Nov 12 and the last panel discussion is on November 30 on KVZK-TV, Channel 2.
